Retirees, Students, and Working Professionals WELCOME!
Each tax season Creating Assets, Savings & Hope (CA$H) of Onondaga County mobilizes volunteers to work as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Volunteers help hard working low-income people access tax refunds and credits like EITC, which they are entitled to, without having to use costly, paid tax preparers.
Positions include:
Tax Preparer:
Become IRS -certified to prepare taxes
Who: Retired or current workers with an interest in numbers willing to help people with taxes. Students interested in building their resumes with real life experiences
CA$H Site Volunteer:
Distribute information & help filers find local financial resources & services
Who: Friendly, outgoing, people oriented volunteers interested in meeting and helping hardworking community members
Please share this volunteer opportunity with your friends, neighbors and colleagues, and consider participating as a group! Bilingual Spanish speakers are always in high demand.
The time commitment is up to you: Volunteer as many shifts as you are able.
No liability for volunteers: Volunteers are protected under the Volunteer Protection Act of 1997 as long as they stay within the scope of certification and volunteer guidelines.
Evening and Daytime hours are available: Multiple locations
